A Tradition is Born

On our sixth Christmas as a school community, a new tradition has been born. The Saint Martin de Porres High School Choir collaborated with the extraordinary “Humble Servants” this past Friday evening for a festive musical celebration of this blessed season. Nearly 200 members of our community - students, donors, parents, and friends - gathered in beautiful and historic St. Vitus Church for the concert which benefited the Alex Zdrojewski Scholarship Fund and the Martin’s 500 Scholarship Program.
Many moments captured the spirit of the evening, but perhaps no moment so poignantly as the one that occurred during a solo sung by our own Martha Solarz. Martha works in the Saint Martin business office and is also a member of “Humble Servants.” During her solo, a few members of the Saint Martin Choir began to clap along somewhat tentatively. Then Peter Zdrojewski followed their lead and the entire church joined in as the Spirit moved them. Martha’s beautiful singing became even more inspired as she belted out “The people who walk in darkness have seen a great light.”
Thank you to Helen Zdrojewski for presenting us with this gift and for helping us to create a new Christmas tradition. Please plan to join us next December!
